Nursing Alumni Chapter
Hello to all my fellow nursing alumni. I am Julia Hodnett McCormac your nursing alumni chapter president until October 2009. I have spent the last nine months trying to learn more about the needs of the students and how, as an association, we can help meet the needs.
As you know, everything has gone up in price including tuition, books, etc.
Today the students are required to have a lap top computer, stethoscope and more. One of my priorities is to try and find financial support for the students who have financial needs so they can concentrate on their studies. UMMC School of Nursing has some of the best and brightest students with a 98% pass rate on their boards last year and Dean Bender is doing all she can to make that rate higher.
My class has given a scholarship since 2000 and I have given one since 2004. You do not have to give thousands of dollars to make a difference because every little bit helps. The students who have been lucky enough to receive a scholarship or grant know more than anyone how much it helps. So please remember your struggle and help as much as possible. I am looking forward to seeing you at the upcoming events.
