Admissions Information
- A signed, completed application
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited university
- Cumulative overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Hours from all previously attempted course work are used in calculating the cumulative GPA.
- A minimum grade of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on each required prerequisite course.
- Satisfactory scores on a nationally normed admission assessment specified by the School of Nursing.
- Three acceptable letters of recommendation from a supervisor, professional colleague, academic dean and/or instructor
- Preadmission counseling with School of Nursing faculty
Students must enroll in full time study and no part-time study option is permitted in the Accelerated BSN program option. Students are strongly encouraged NOT to work while in the program.
Applications are accepted beginning July 1 of the year prior to the desired year of enrollment. The deadline date for applications to be complete and in the Office of Student Records and Registrar is January 15 for the class entering annually in May. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance status in March.

1. A signed application form
2. A non refundable $25 application fee made payable to the University Medical Center
3. A completed Plan of Study Form
4. A completed Personal Statement Form
5. Official transcript from EVERY college attended, including a transcript of grades from the fall semester sent directly from each college to the Office of Student Records and Registrar. Receipts submitted as proof that transcripts have been requested will not be accepted.
6. Transcripts in the original sealed envelop can be hand delivered to the registrar’s office at UMC.
7. A recent 2"x 2" photograph to be used for verification of records (optional). Please write your name on the back of the photograph.
8. Satisfactory scores on a nationally normed admission assessment specified by the School of Nursing.

- All transcripts become the property of the University of Mississippi Medical Center and cannot be returned to the applicant or forwarded to another school or individual. Transcripts must be sent directly by the school to the Office of Student Records and Registrar.
- FACSIMILE DOCUMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
- Transcripts must be submitted to The Office of Student Records and Registrar at the end of each semester until all prerequisite requirements are completed.
- Report any name, address, or phone number change to the Office of Student Records and Registrar.
- DO NOT send application materials to the School of Nursing.
- ALL grades, including failing grades and grades on repeat courses, are used to calculate pre-admission grade point averages.
- The applicant is responsible for notifying the Office of Student Records and Registrar of all changes to the Plan of Study.
- Out of state tuition charges apply for all applicants that live outside the State of Mississippi.

Only applicants accepted into the program will receive additional information regarding health requirements, program orientation, class schedule, textbooks, and other important information.
Students who enroll in the program must hold current certification in Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in either the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross) or the Health Provider (American Heart Association) which includes the required Adult, Child and Infant Life Support.
