Baccalaureate Programs

Applicants to the Accelerated Baccalaureate Nursing Program must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university and must have completed the following 17 hours of prerequisite courses. Science survey courses or mathematics and science courses designed for nonscience majors are not acceptable for transfer credit. Science courses taken more than ten (10) years ago will not be acceptable for transfer credit.

PREREQUISITE COURSES  
Human Anatomy and Physiology: 8 semester hours   
Must have two consecutive 4 semester credit courses
with labs which include the study of structure and function
of the human body

Human Growth and Development Throughout the Life Cycle:  
3 semester hours; course should include the study of human development through the life span; sometimes called Developmental Psychology

Nutrition: 3 semester hours   3
Statistics: 3 semester hours  
Includes an introduction to descriptive and inferential statistics, including measures of central tendency, variability, correlation, t tests, z tests, ANOVA, chi-square, hypothesis testing, p levels, and confidence intervals.

Special consideration will be given for students who also complete:
Microbiology   4 semester hours
Chemistry        4 semester hours
 

Unacceptable Courses

None of the required courses listed above may be met by the following: courses in physical training, military science, or dogmatic religion; course credit granted without college level testing.

Note: Credit by exam (excluding science courses with labs) is accepted if credit is posted on the official college/university transcript.
