Is the admission process competitive?
Is there a waiting list to get in?Applicants are accepted into the program on a competitive basis. A number of factors are considered, including overall GPA, required prerequisite courses GPA, cumulative ACT score, and an applicant interview.

How can I increase my GPA scores?The School of Nursing does not have a waiting list to enter the program. Each year a number of students are selected from the persons who apply. A percentage of the remaining qualified applicants are then placed on an alternate list. Each time an admitted applicant declines their acceptance, an alternate is offered the place. After the first week of school, the alternate list is dropped. All remaining applicants must reapply to be considered for the next year.

Is the ACT required if I have a baccalaureate degree?Taking additional courses and making a high grade may increase GPA scores.

How will I know what courses I can take in nursing school?Applicants are required to submit an ACT score, but the ACT score of an applicant with a baccalaureate degree is not considered in the selection process.

Who do I contact regarding financial aid?An academic advisor is assigned to each student upon admission. The undergraduate program plan of study is also published in the University Medical Center Bulletin.

When do clinical courses begin?
What kind of extracurricular activities are available in nursing school?The first semester theory courses will prepare you to begin your clinical experiences the second semester that you are in school.
