A. Part-time
study is available; however, the University residency requirement must
be met.
Q. How long is the program?

will require 3-4 years to complete the program. However, the length of
the program will depend on the program of study developed for the student
in collaboration with the faculty advisory committee.
Q. How do I get additional information about the program?
A. The
School of Nursing holds on-campus information sessions during the year
to facilitate in-person information exchange. Individuals who have inquired
about the Ph.D. program are sent an announcement regarding these sessions.
In addition, the University Bulletin and informational brochures are available
upon request.
Q. Can I transfer credits from another university?
A.
The University of Mississippi School of Nursing does accept transfer credits
toward the Ph.D.; however, acceptance of the transfer credits is determined
by the students’ advisory committee.
Q. How is the collaborative program between
the University of Mississippi School of Nursing and the University of
Southern Mississippi structured?
A. Each institution will grant its own degree; however, there will be common admission requirements and a common core of courses. Both Schools of Nursing will offer courses which have been identified as “core.” Students may take any of the “core” courses at either University. Courses successfully completed at one institution will be accepted without reservation at the other. Each school will offer its own selected field of study, and students will receive their degrees from the institution which offers the area of study selected by the students.
