RN to MSN- Application Process

2. A non refundable $25 application fee made payable to The University of Mississippi Medical Center.
3. A COPY OF YOUR CURRENT UNRESTRICTED RN LICENSE.
For residents of Mississippi: to print a copy of your RN license go to http://www.ms.gov/msbn/InquiryInformation.do. Read the disclaimer and click on "continue" at the bottom right of the page. Then enter the information required. You will be allowed to print a copy showing that your license is unrestricted. New graduates must successfully complete the NCLEX during the first semester of course work.
4. Documentation of graduation from an associate degree or diploma program in nursing from an accredited institution (NLNAC or CCNE), which included clinical practice courses in nursing.
5. A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required. All grades, including failing grades and grades on repeat courses, are used to calculate pre-admission grade point averages.
6. Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (verbal, quantitative, and analytical). Except for students holding a masters degree, the GRE must be taken within 5 years of application. Note: Scores take several weeks to be received from the Educational Testing Service (ETS)
7. Official transcripts from every college attended. If currently enrolled, transcripts must also be sent at the end of each semester. All transcripts and required documents in support of an application become the property of the University of Mississippi Medical Center and cannot be returned or forwarded to the applicant or any other school or individual. Official transcripts from every school attended must be received directly from the school. Do not send them in yourself. Receipts submitted as proof that transcripts have been requested will not be accepted. All correspondence should be addressed to:

11. For acute care applicants, one calendar year of clinical experience in acute care settings is required. Prior clinical experience is not required for the other MSN roles.
12. Out of state tuition charges apply for all applicants that live outside the State of Mississippi.

Only applicants accepted into the program will receive additional information regarding health requirements, program orientation, class schedule, textbooks, and other important information.
Before enrolling, accepted students must hold current certification in Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in either the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross) or the Health Provider (American Heart Association) which includes the required Adult, Child and Infant Life Support.
RN students are required to have a valid Mississippi unrestricted nursing license and/or legally authorized to practice in Mississippi. New ADN graduates are required to have a valid RN license to practice by the end of their first semester of course work. Verification of current unrestricted license is required yearly for RN students.
