2010-11 Online Application Process
Congratulations on your decision to pursue a nursing degree at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. We offer exceptional instruction and unique opportunities that are only found in an academic medical center like UMMC.
We are very excited that you have chosen to apply to our School of Nursing! The process and application deadlines vary from program to program. It is very important that you visit each program's website to view this specific information.
Step 1:
The first step in our application process for all programs is to do a little research. You will first want to look over our list of requirements (including prerequisites) and admission criteria for the program of your choice! This can be done by visiting the individual program's website. Once you have made sure that you meet each of the requirements and admission criteria, then you are ready to move on to step two.
Step 2:
The second step is to fill out an application through our new Online Application Process. You must complete your application online at our website. There will be no hard copies of the application available.
When you start the online application process, it will have all of the necessary instructions and forms included. Please make sure you read the instructions before you complete each part of the application.
Also, please note that there is an Application Essay included as part of the application for the Traditional BSN and the Accelerated BSN only. This essay must be completed and submitted with the application.
Step 3:
The third step of the application process is to request your official transcripts to be sent in a sealed envelope to the Office of Student Records and Registrar. You will need to acquire official transcripts from each University, College, and/or Community College you have ever attended. This includes a transcript of grads from the fall semester sent directly from each college to the Office of Student Records and Registrar. All correspondence relative to applications and transcripts must be addressed as follows:

Step 4:
The fourth step is to sign up and take any entrance exam that is required for entrance into your program. Again, you can find out this information on the individual program's webpage. Please note that we do not require an entrance exam for any of our Undergraduate Programs. Your scores from any required entrance exam must be submitted to the Office of Student Records and Registrar by the application deadline.
Step 5:
The fifth step is to make sure your application is complete. In order for your application to be complete, we must receive the following:
- A signed application form
- A nonrefundable $25 application fee
- A completed Plan of Study form
- A completed Application Essay
- Official ACT scores and dates of all ACT scores
- All official transcripts
Step 6:
Please be aware of the Final Deadline for the program in which you are applying. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this Final Deadline. This concludes the application process for our School of Nursing.
