Office of Student Affairs
Dear Student,
Welcome to the School of Nursing at The University of Mississippi Medical Center! The School of Nursing (SON) Office of Student Affairs is excited to serve as a resource to you throughout your time here. From the moment you apply to nursing school to the moment you walk across the stage at Commencement, we are here to assist you!
The SON Office of Student Affairs is made up of a three-person staff: Rachel Chew, our Student Recruiter, Monica Wade, our Administrative Assistant, and myself. Student Affairs oversees recruitment for the SON.
We also direct many of the SON events, such as our community service event called SoNShine Day, and our career event called Ignite. In addition, we work with the SON Student Officers and our SON Ambassadors, who serve and lead our school. Many of our students are also involved in the UMMC Associated Student Body, which plans fun events for students, such as socials and formals. There are many ways to become involved at UMMC!
In addition, the SON Office of Student Affairs has resources available to assist students, including financial aid information, career development support, and help with problem-solving. Our knowledgeable staff is ready to answer your questions and assist you in any way we can as you journey through our nursing programs. We are here to lend a listening ear and a helping hand.
Feel free to contact us if we may be of assistance.
Best Wishes in Nursing!
