These faculty members were chosen by graduating students. The Nelson order was established in 2004 to recognize “the teaching excellence encouraged and nurtured by Norman C. Nelson, M.D.” The Order identifies those faculty who have provided the finest attention to student education on this campus, as identified by the students themselves. 

Faculty who receive this award are celebrated by award of an embossed purple sash that is worn during recognition each year at commencement.
